Why Some Cats are Rascals

Book One

Rascal, the cat, loves adventure. In fact, he lives for that. He will spend eight of his nine lives looking for adventure. He lives with a gang of other cats in a white wooden house with a big garden and a view of mountains.

Rascal is also a writer. He records his adventures in a diary. Some of his explorations are true, some imaginary, but all of them are fascinating.

Rascal will touch your heart and soul. The storytelling challenges a child’s imagination while teaching him – in a fun and exciting way – a lesson or two about real life values.

A word from the author

I'm dedicating this book to all cats, cat lovers, and veterinarians from Catanada and all around the world.
The characters are real. They live with me in a white wooden house with a big garden and a view of mountains. Their names are also real, but some of them - like Grandma Calico and Uncle Toothless - are now on the other side of the rainbow...
The main character of the series, Rascal, is an orange four-year-old male cat. He is not your typical, cuddly "lap-cat". He is always the first one to do things that all rascals do, but his heart is of an Angel... Now he is looking after a small baby kitten, Onyx, recently adopted from SPCA. You will meet Onyx in the third book of the series.
The cats in my books write, read, talk, laugh and cry, and they live their lives like humans. Their stories not only entertain, but they also teach about the world of cats and other animals, traditions, geography, history, survivals skills, and moral values.
Children need no more violence in the books, movies, and computers games. Children need good examples to follow; they need love not hate, they need kindness not anger, they should smile not cry...
If you are a cat lover, I'd be happy to read your "cat stories". With your permission, the best stories could land in one of the future books of Rascal series. Please write your story to me. You will find the appropriate contact at the last page of the book, or use the contact links at the bottom of this page.

Here's what some Amazon.com readers say about the book:

Jana My 10 year old daughter, Monica, became so excited after reading "Why Some Cats are Rascals" that she started writing her own diary. She wants to become as good a writer as Rascal is.

This book is full of humor, good advice, and it has an excellent story line. It teaches the children the noble values of life. I am glad to give this book to my daughter as her birthday present - the book of love, friendship, and honesty. There is no violence here, no fear or wrongdoing unlike in many other books . Besides, not only my daughter but I have also learned a lot of about the world of cats, and I also had fun reading it.

Happy mother.

Gail Cooke You don't have to be a feline fancier to thoroughly enjoy the adventures of Rascal and his pals as they venture into the great world seeking freedom. You see, Grandma Cat has whetted their taste for seeing more than their comfortable home with her stories of when she was young - "...her tall tales of sleeping in the rubbish can and under the stars, about the fancy Ball that the cats used to organize two times a year."

Cats can be very much like humans at this point, not realizing what a good life they have but wanting more. In addition, they pay no heed to how very much their owners care about them and just how worried they would be if the cats disappeared.

Off they go with Rascal in the lead looking for all the wonders that Grandma Cat had described. Of course, they find a great deal more than they bargained for and probably even more than Grandma had experienced. But, that's what the story is all about.

Enjoy as these furry friends encounter new pals, old enemies, and learn a great deal.

"...As for the contemporary authors I mostly recommend B. Nowiki's new series " Why Some Cats are Rascals ". Rascal is just a house cat, not a lion, but he will teach your children as important lessens as did Narnia's lion..."

"... Another good book that I value a lot for its educational content is "Why some cats are rascals" by B. Nowiki. I was afraid that in this case my son would to be a "little too little", but he is now reading it and seems to have even more fun... - lucky me, again! ..."

"... Why Some Cats are Rascals by yet another master of fantasy, Boszenna Nowiki. It is a completely different kind of fiction, showing the world from cat's perspective. Nowiki's writing style is as engrossing as the one of JK Rowling. The story evokes child's imagination, and it's loaded with positive energy..."

Belinda T. This book is as tempting as a mousetrap!!!

I love "Why Some Cats Are Rascals" ....I love the kitten who knows how to write the word `cat'...and do it with only two errors..... The cat's discussion if is healthy to go to doc vet or not. I love Philosopher who is trying to figure out one secret "Why life is this way when cats want it another way..." .....I like it when Rascal was leaping straight into the arms of adventure because freedom was pulling him like a magnet and was as tempting as a mousetrap. ....and how he led the cats back the shortest way which was finally the longest way..... Grouchy old Uncle Toothless .....OK! I will not spoil the secrets....enough for now.!!!!!
By the way...the second part "Enchanted Forest" was even more hilarious!!!! .... when Prehistoric Mouse Tram-bam-bu wants to change everyone to look like a mouse, eat like a mouse, and even smell like a mouse.......
